Community Engagement

Community Engagement

A consistent and positive force in the community

Our Iona operations are located near small and close-knit regional towns that include our employees, community members, landowners, local government and suppliers.

We strive to be a consistent, positive force by playing an active role in the community and by listening and responding to current and future needs and priorities.

Our community engagement program priorities the following areas:

Timely communication about business operations that have the potential to impact the community

Timely communication about unplanned incidents or major issues impacting the site

Active participation in community events and sponsorship

We achieve this with a regular cadence of thrice-yearly meetings of our Community Liaison Committee, as well as ongoing briefings with our neighbours as required.

We also have a system in place to ensure that there is a response to stakeholders’ expectations and concerns.

Any complaints from the community regarding noise or any other issues are taken very seriously and dealt with as soon as possible.

Other stakeholder engagement

Beyond the community, we have developed a stakeholder engagement approach to formalise our strategy for communicating with the broader range of stakeholders who interact with our organisation.

This includes:

  • local governments
  • state and federal government
  • customers
  • regulators
  • industry and trade unions
  • contractors and suppliers
  • investors and investment managers
  • emergency responders

The strategy has three high-level objectives:

  1. Anticipate and respond to customers’ changing needs and requirements
  2. Understand and influence regulatory policy outcomes in an evolving energy market as relevant to Lochard’s business.
  3. Maintain our social licence to operate.
